2011 Christchurch Earthquake

Ki Ora

Today in Hurumanu1 we have been doing some research about the Christchurch Earthquake and we have to make a blog about the Christchurch Earthquake  and some of the video were interesting and some of the video was very sad and the earthquake was a massive one and some of the people were shocked about the earthquake that happened. We have to answer these three questions and they were hard to research about so we had to write them into our own words so that the teacher understand what we are writing about.

How have the Christchurch earthquakes had an impact on our city? I had thought that the Canterbury earthquake was scary and the earthquake was a huge one and some people and buildings were safe and there were so many deaths. Also the parents and the caretakers were so terrified about the deaths and some of the people were in the earthquake were shocked and surprised. Also the Canterbury Earthquake can be a big damage to your house because it can cause a lot of money because the house can be a mansion and you don’t have any money and the house cost a lot of money.

What positives or negatives have come from the earthquakes?

I think negatives because so many people died and most houses and I think positive people get wounded but they are sometimes brave and sometimes I think negatives because people always die also most houses break because i think it would pay a lot of money some people might think positives but some people might think negatives because negatives die and building collapse. Also I think negative because you might die from the bricks or the woods also i think positives if you go out of your house very quickly and you will be safe and you can get your kids first outside.

What are some changes that citizens have made to prevent damage happening from potential future earthquakes?

I think that they need to be prepared and be ready for what's going to happen next. Also I think that everyone should be brave and save everyone when there is an earthquake and evacuate everything that you need. Also if there is an earthquake be prepared because the earthquake might be big and you need to get everyone together and get somewhere safe.

Harinita Question Mars

In your own words summarise what happens at the Mars Desert Research Centre? They stay in the research at Utah Desert. Also the Utah Desert is big and they wear their helmets whenever they go outside but they need to be hydrated and eat some food and the Utah Desert is very expensive to go to and discover it.

What did Harinita find difficult about being at the research centre?

I think Harinita difficulty is being at the station all day to do some work and some other stuff and Harinita is tired because she always does work all the time and she always does stuff as people are told.

Why do you think it is important for astronauts to practice in an environment like this before heading into space?

I think astronauts need to practice because they need to be ready to face mars and not to go there and die and also you have to make a good environment to help with stuff that you don’t know and if you keep doing environment you might get smart every time when you go to mars.

Mars Questions
